In March at YMS, we did a fundraiser to raise money for the Center. There are many rules for this competition. They are:
1. Each Homeroom will bring in coins or dollar bills to their own Homeroom.
2. Point Chart outside of Mr. Deckers Office (Seventh Grade office)
3. Coins will be weighed on a scale. Each ounce is worth a point.
$1 bill = 200 points
$5 bill = 1,200 points
$10 bill = 2,500 points
$20 bill = 5,200 points
$100 bill = 30,000 points
4. Dollar Bills are the ONLY way to sabotage = “cancel out” another Homeroom’s Score.
5. You can only sabotage 1 Homeroom a day.
6. You can only sabotage a Homeroom once
7. Sabotage happens during homeroom.
8. Winning Homeroom at the end of the week gets a prize.
9. The winning grade level gets a dodgeball tournament.

During the week of this fundraiser, each grade level battled, sabotaging one another's homerooms and planning to come out on top until the winners were revealed. For Sixth Grade, Ms. Savey's Homeroom won! Congratulations, everyone, and great job coming out on top with a whopping 32,370 points!

For seventh grade, Mrs. Janssen's Homeroom won, and WOW, they managed to stay with 35,944 points at the end of it all! Last, but most certainly not least, Ms. Sees's Homeroom won for Eighth Grade! They found their strategies and took everything they had gathered from attending school here at YMS for three years. They came out on top with a number of 19,981 Points! But the grade level that got to take the dodgeball tournament and the title of 2025 Coin War Champions………….

Seventh Grade Won! Even with the advantage of being here at YMS for years, eighth grade still lost! But even with all of this fun and exciting competition, the only reason for the war was to donate and help the March for Meals at the center. In total, Yankton Middle School raised $2,380.35! Also, what is even better is this year, we raised $50 more than last year! This shows how a little competition can go a long way in helping the community. Thank you to everyone who donated, and congrats to the Winners!
