Mrs. Shortbull

by MacKenzie Metivier

The thing that inspired her to be a counselor the most is the thought of helping kids out because she originally wanted to work with just adults but she found she likes working with more high school middle school aged people. So she signed up for a job in therapy then the school counselor job opened up and it seemed perfect so she took the job.

Mrs. Shortbull does so much more than counselor at the middle school; she also coaches girls wrestling. Her favorite thing about being a counselor is the kid interaction even the not-so-good interaction because she feels she can change the bad to good and then she makes it a good interaction with the kids.

She believes the hardest part about being a counselor is having to call a parent about their kids' mental health. Mrs. Shortbull is a great counselor because she puts all her energy in the kids at YMS and she really loves her kids not only as students but as people with feelings, she is also very easy to talk to and her office is very comfy and safe there is just so much to look at new things to find, she really understands us.
