MATHCOUNTS is a national math program for middle school students. It is designed to increase interest and involvement in math among all middle school students. All sixth, seventh, and eighth graders can try out for the team at the local level competition scheduled for either January 23, January 24, or January 25, 2024, at scheduled meeting times. Sign-ups and informational meetings were held on December 6 and December 7, 2023. The team members will attend Southeast Technical College in Sioux Falls on February 20, 2024, for the chapter competition. If the competition is canceled due to inclement weather, the make-up competition will be held on February 27, 2024. The top two teams from the chapter will go to Pierre in March. The top four individuals from the state will attend the national competition in Washington, D.C., in the spring. Mathcounts is coached by Teresa Janssen, and meetings are held in room 217. The schedule for all meetings and competitions is posted in the MATHCOUNTS Google Classroom.
